Bawumia – 1 year National Service will no longer be mandatory.
Bawumia- NSS Will no longer be compulsory.
The Vice President of the state, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia in his address on the 7th of February 2024 stated that if he’s elected into power, the mandatory 1 year of National Service which tertiary graduates have to undertake in order to secure public workspace jobs will no longer be compulsory.
He further stated that it will be decided by these graduates if they want to undertake the National Service Scheme or proceed with jobs if they have employment right away. This is an initiative to create employment in the country under his regime.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, to help our youth get jobs, I believe it is time to rethink the concept of our current national service scheme. My government will propose that those who, after completion of their education, can secure jobs would be exempted from national service. National service will no longer be mandatory, and students will have the option to decide whether to do national service. This will also encourage companies to go to campuses for recruitment annually,” stated Bawumia.
The Vice President aspiring to be the President in the 2024 general elections representing the New Patriotic Party let out these words during his address in Accra, the capital of Ghana. In Ghana National Service is compulsory and a requirement if graduates want jobs in the public sector. The presidential candidate aspirant promises to cut this rule off when he’s elected into power.
