1 Arrested As Police Identify Car Used In Konongo Robbery By 8 Suspects
Authorities in Ghana are on an intense manhunt for seven armed robbers who executed a bold robbery in Konongo, Ashanti Region, on October 22, 2024.
The suspects reportedly escaped with approximately GH¢130,000 in cash from local residents before fleeing upon learning that the police were on their way.

During the heist, the robbers took the drastic measure of locking one victim in a room before making off with the stolen money.
Their escape plan was thwarted when Amid Tahiru, a 40-year-old suspect, was identified by alert community members. Tahiru attempted to evade capture by jumping into a nearby river but was ultimately apprehended and handed over to the police.
Weapons and Evidence Recovered
Upon investigation, law enforcement officials recovered a significant cache of weapons and ammunition from the scene. This included a Wilson foreign pistol loaded with 11 rounds of Luger 9mm ammunition, a Heckler & Koch MP5 rifle with 37 rounds, two black face masks, a grading machine, and a vehicle number plate.
Arrests and Ongoing Investigation
In response to the incident, the police have detained Tahiru and a security guard named Hlordeme George for further questioning. Both individuals are expected to face court proceedings soon as the search for the remaining suspects continues.
