NDC will undertake “continuous recruitment” of health workers – Mahama
Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has pledged to implement continuous recruitment of health workers if elected in the upcoming December polls. During the NDC Manifesto launch in Winneba, Mahama outlined his plans to expand health infrastructure and ensure the timely posting of medical personnel across the country.
Mahama also revealed plans to establish the “Ghana Medical Care Trust,” a fund aimed at supporting individuals with chronic illnesses such as kidney failure, cancer, sickle cell, and diabetes. He emphasized that his administration would not delay the recruitment of health workers until election periods but instead maintain an ongoing employment process for doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
In addition to healthcare reforms, Mahama vowed to restore the licenses of banks and financial institutions that were “wrongly collapsed” under the current administration. He aims to boost local participation in the banking and financial sectors.
On the education front, Mahama introduced the “No Fee Stress” policy for first-year students in tertiary institutions, clarifying that this initiative would not reduce the internally generated funds of universities. Instead, the funds will be provided to the Student Loan Trust Fund and distributed to universities as grants. He also promised free tertiary education for persons with disabilities and an increase in subventions to public universities to enhance teaching and learning.
