“Only Machines Can Work 24hrs,…Who Sells Gari For 24hrs?…” – Cheddar Quizzes.
On September 1, 2024, Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as Cheddar, revealed his manifesto as the leader of The New Force political movement, outlining a comprehensive vision for Ghana’s future. A key element of his speech was the assertion that industrialization is the only feasible route to establishing a 24-hour economy.
Bediako openly criticized the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s proposed work shift policy, which seeks to extend working hours across various sectors. He argued that without a strong emphasis on industrialization, the policy would be inadequate for creating a genuine 24-hour economy. “Only a machine, a plant, can provide jobs in three different shifts—eight hours each, making up 24 hours. That is what I call a 24-hour economy,” Bediako stressed.
He pointed out the impracticality of expecting traditional market vendors, such as those selling gari in places like Makola, Kejetia, and Kantamanto, to operate around the clock. Instead, Bediako maintained that it is the establishment of factories and production lines—not simply extending market hours—that will fuel the country’s economic growth. “Without industrialization, a 24-hour economy is impossible,” he declared.
In addition to his focus on industrialization, Bediako’s manifesto includes proposals to build reserves of key natural resources, implement an “Apostolic governance” system featuring 12 specialized ministries, and extend Ghana’s railway network to over 8,000 km. He also committed to unlocking the economic potential of all regions in Ghana, ensuring that every area contributes meaningfully to the nation’s development.
Bediako concluded his address by reaffirming his dedication to industrialization as the foundation of Ghana’s future, stating, “I am bringing you economic freedom with all this potential.”
This manifesto launch highlights The New Force‘s distinctive approach to economic transformation in Ghana and positions the party as a significant contender in the upcoming 2024 elections.
