Student Suspended for Misconduct in Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Hostel
In a recent turn of events, a student has been suspended from the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Hostel for engaging in the illegal sale of hostel water, an act that has tarnished the reputation of both the hostel and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). This serious infraction falls under misconduct as outlined by the hostel’s regulations and the University’s Code of Conduct.
The specific regulations governing student residences, as detailed on page 101 under Section I of Students’ Cubicle, explicitly state: “No commercial activity such as the sale of water, eggs, soft drinks, etc., is permitted in the student cubicle.
” Furthermore, Clause 11 of the Hostel Declaration Form, which the student signed and was endorsed by their guardian, clearly mandates: “I SHALL NOT carry out or condone with my roommates to carry out commercial activities in the room; if so found, I shall forfeit my residency.”
In response to this violation, the student has been suspended from the hostel effective from July 16, 2024, to August 3, 2024. This suspension notice supersedes a previous letter dated July 4, 2024. The university administration underscores that such actions will not be tolerated and emphasizes the importance of adhering to the established rules and regulations to maintain the integrity and reputation of the institution.
