Ghana’s Futsal AFCON dream, down the drain?
Ghana faced another tough challenge in the 2024 Futsal Africa Cup of Nations, suffering a significant 8-3 loss to Morocco in the group. This was the second loss the team faced after Zambia made a statement in the tournament opener with a 5:2 against Ghana.
The second match began with a quick goal from Morocco’s Youssef Jouad just 15 seconds after kickoff, setting the tone for their dominant performance. Ghana managed to equalize briefly through Prince Arthur, but Morocco swiftly regained control with goals from Soufiane El Mesrar and Soufiane Charraoui.
Despite a goal from Ghana’s Philip Nii Boye before halftime, Morocco continued to assert their superiority with late goals from Khalid Bouzid and Youssef Jouad. With this defeat, Ghana finds itself at the bottom of Group A without any points, while Morocco leads the group with six points after two matches.
