France superstar Kylian Mbappe could miss rest of Euro 2024 after being taken to hospital with broken nose
Kylian Mbappe’s participation in the remainder of Euro 2024 is in serious jeopardy after the France superstar was hospitalized for a broken nose. The forward sustained the injury during the final moments of France’s 1-0 victory over Austria in Düsseldorf on Monday night.
The injury occurred when Mbappe collided with defender Kevin Danso, resulting in a broken nose and a blood-stained shirt. Following extensive on-pitch treatment, he was substituted and immediately headed down the tunnel, causing significant concern for Les Bleus’ players and fans.
Initially, it was believed that despite the broken nose, Mbappe would still be able to play for the rest of the Euros, likely needing to wear a protective face mask. However, subsequent video footage showed the France captain being transported to University Hospital of Düsseldorf in an ambulance.
Reports indicate that an overnight decision will determine whether the 25-year-old will require emergency surgery, which could potentially rule him out for the rest of the tournament.
