The Ghanaian government has announced plans to construct one hundred new artificial pitches by the conclusion of the year 2024. President Akuffo Addo revealed this initiative during the official inauguration of the newly built Borteyman Sports Complex. Emphasizing the administration’s focus on sports infrastructure, President Akufo-Addo highlighted the completion of ten sports stadiums across the ten regions of Ghana.
He noted that six of these stadiums, including Wa in Upper West, Dunkwa Offin in Central, Axim in Western, Dormaa Ahenkro in Bono, Ho in Volta, and Koforidua in Eastern, are already operational, with plans for the remaining four to be finished within the current year.
Furthermore, he mentioned the government’s investment in providing astroturf pitches at the community level, with 150 already completed across the country. President Akufo-Addo concluded by reaffirming the commitment to sports development in Ghana through the construction of an additional 100 pitches before the year’s end.
