Man allegedly kills stepdaughter at Sehwi Yamatwa
In a shocking and tragic event, a man in his late forties, identified as Josontey Kwame, has allegedly killed his stepdaughter on his farm at Sehwi Kankakrom near Yamatwa in the Bia West District of the Western North Region.
Details of the Incident
The incident was confirmed by Isaac Oduro, a resident of the area, to Adom News’ Augustine Boah.
According to Oduro, the mother of the deceased had sent her daughter, Mary Josontey, to deliver food to her stepfather at the farm. When Mary did not return after several hours, her father, Kwame Dagati, claimed he had given her some work to do on the farm, which raised suspicions.
One of Mary’s siblings went to the farm to search for her and discovered her body covered with leaves at a corner of the farm, with blood visible at the scene. The sibling quickly informed the family, leading to accusations against the stepfather.
In a desperate attempt to evade justice, Kwame reportedly consumed a poisonous chemical in an apparent suicide attempt, which failed. He was subsequently restrained and handed over to the police at Yamatwa.
Police and Medical Response
The police were notified, and the body of the deceased was taken to the Essam Government Hospital mortuary. Kwame is also receiving treatment at Essam Hospital under police custody.
Authorities are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragic death to determine the motive and ensure justice is served.
