President Akufo-Addo Commissions Bank of Ghana’s Modern Headquarters, ‘The Bank Square’
In a historic event, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has officially commissioned ‘The Bank Square,’ the new state-of-the-art headquarters of the Bank of Ghana (BoG).
This impressive 100-meter tall structure is now the tallest building in Ghana and the most sustainable EDGE Advanced structure of its size in the country and the sub-region.
A Landmark Achievement
During the inauguration ceremony on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, President Akufo-Addo emphasized the significance of the new edifice. He described it as a powerful symbol of the country’s commitment to strengthening its governance institutions, particularly its financial infrastructure.
“This new headquarters will serve as the new command center for the bank’s operations, fostering innovation, collaboration, and excellence in its service to the nation,” he stated
Enhancing Financial Stability
President Akufo-Addo highlighted that ‘The Bank Square’ is more than just a physical structure; it represents the BoG’s dedication to enhancing its capacity to manage the national economy effectively, promote financial stability, and ensure transparency in its operations.
“It will also reinforce the bank’s capacity to advance critical financial sector reforms, enhance regulatory frameworks, and improve the investment climate for both domestic and international stakeholders,” he added.

Bank of Ghana Governor, Dr. Ernest Addison, expressed pride in the project, which was designed by internationally celebrated architect Sir David Adjaye.
He noted that ‘The Bank Square’ is designed to withstand the test of time and serve as a beacon of Ghana’s economic revitalization for generations to come. “This project boldly affirms the central bank’s commitment to investing in the nation’s future,” Dr. Addison remarked.
