Tragic Accident in Konongo: Fuel Tanker Collision Claims 2 Lives
A devastating accident in the main township of Konongo has resulted in the deaths of two individuals after a fuel tanker, attempting to avoid a crash due to brake failure, veered into oncoming traffic.
The tragic incident occurred when the tanker collided with a pickup truck and a Hyundai Elantra, causing significant damage and loss of life.
The Collision
The fuel tanker, in a desperate attempt to avoid a larger catastrophe, swerved out of its lane but unfortunately crossed into the opposite lane.
This maneuver led to a collision with a pickup truck, registered GW 4031-21, and subsequently forced the pickup into the path of a Hyundai Elantra. The impact was severe, crushing the pickup and causing extensive damage to both vehicles.
The two occupants of the pickup truck were pronounced dead at the scene. Other passengers involved in the collision sustained various degrees of injuries and were rushed to nearby medical facilities for treatment.
The identities of the deceased have not yet been released, pending notification of their families.
