6, Including Two Drivers, Killed In Accident; Others Injured [Photos]
A devastating accident on the Tamale-Kumasi Highway has resulted in the deaths of six individuals, including two drivers.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday and involved a Kia Granbird bus (registration number GT 6068-19) and a Kia Rhino truck (registration number GR 7968-20).
Details of the Accident
The collision happened at Mile 40 when the Kia Granbird bus, driven by Yakubu and carrying 28 passengers from Kumasi to Tamale, collided head-on with the Kia Rhino truck, which was transporting watermelons from Daboya to Goaso.
The impact was severe, leading to the immediate deaths of three male adults, including both drivers, two females, and a child.
Emergency Response
Injured passengers from both vehicles were quickly transported to the Central Gonja District Hospital in Buipe for urgent medical attention.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) in Buipe was dispatched to the scene to assist in rescuing victims and clearing the accident site.
Aftermath
The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Central Gonja District Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.
Meanwhile, the Buipe District Police Command, led by its Crime Officer, ASP Amoako, has appealed to drivers to reduce their speed to save lives.
