2024 AMAA: Jackie Appiah Nominated for Best Actress Award
The Africa Film Academy has officially announced the nominees for the 20th edition of the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAAs).
Ghanaian actress Jackie Appiah has been nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her performance in the film “Red Carpet” at this year’s AMAAs.
The announcement was made during the 20th edition launch on October 2 in Ikeja, Nigeria. Jackie will compete with fellow nominees Girley Jazama, Oyin Oladejo, Unati Faku, Uzoamaka Aniunoh, Laura Pepple, and Ife Irele for the prestigious award.
Prominent figures at the event included Tony Anih, AMAA’s Chief Operating Officer, and Kingsley James, producer of the AMAA gala night.
Themed “Celebrating African Creativity,” this milestone event promises to be a spectacular celebration of African excellence in filmmaking.
AMAA’s founder, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, unveiled an exciting lineup of activities for the 20th edition:
November 1: AMAA Africa Night of Legends
AMAA Meets Nollywood (date TBA)
AMAA Africa Fashion Show and Exhibition (date TBA)
November 2: AMAA Gala Night at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja GRA, Lagos
Anyiam-Osigwe stated that the 2024 AMAAs aim to reshape the landscape of continental awards, paving the way for a brighter future while honouring excellence in Africa’s creative sector.
This milestone 20th edition is set to be a remarkable celebration of African ingenuity, talent, and artistic success.
