UDS Student Stabbed to Death on Campus
A tragic incident has occurred at the University for Development Studies (UDS) in Dungu, where pharmacy student Mohammed Zakiu Wunpini was found stabbed to death.
Zakiu, who was about to start his third year, was discovered on the evening of September 25, 2024, with multiple stab wounds in an uncompleted building between the Citadel Hostel and Kumbung Hostel on the UDS campus.
Initial reports suggest that Zakiu’s motorcycle and phone are missing, leading to suspicions of a possible robbery and attack.
It was confirmed that he had gone out to watch a football match with a friend that evening but did not return.
In response to the incident, university authorities, including the Vice Dean, Dean of Students, and the head of Security, convened an emergency meeting and later visited the regional police office on Friday to receive updates on the ongoing investigation.
The campus community is in a state of shock and mourning as students and staff await further details about the tragic death of their colleague.
His final funeral rites will be held today, September 30, 2024, at Gumani near Oasis Restaurant.
