Final Year KNUST Student Dies In A Galamsey Pit.

A heartbreaking incident has occurred in Manso, Ashanti Region, claiming the life of a final-year student from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

Patrick Mensah, who was pursuing a BSc in Agriculture, tragically died in a mining accident just three days after completing his four-year academic program.
According to family members, Patrick and his friends visited an illegal mining site at Manso a day after returning home from school.

The tragedy unfolded when one of his friends accidentally fell into a deep mining pit. In a courageous attempt to rescue his friend, Patrick rushed to the site but lost his footing and fell into the pit himself.
Despite efforts to save him, Patrick could not be rescued due to the perilous conditions of the mine.

His body was later recovered, leaving behind sorrowful memories.
Patrick had completed his final exams on Friday, August 23, 2024, and was awaiting his project defense.
However, he left school to visit his family in Manso, where the tragic event occurred.

The Ghana Police Service has yet to begin an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
