Cameron Jerrell Newton entered the NFL with Carolina Panthers as the first overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. He went on to play nine seasons for the Panthers until he joined New England Patriots in 2020. He is currently a free agent.
Born Cameron Jerrell Newton on May 11, 1989, in Atlanta, Georgia, U.S. He is the second son of the three sons of Jackie and Cecil Newton Sr. His dad is a former NFL player who played safety for the 1983 Dallas Cowboys and the 1984 Buffalo Bills.
Newton was an outstanding young baseball and basketball player, but he acquired a dread of getting hit by a pitch and could never stay out of foul trouble. He gave up baseball when he was 14 and basketball when he was a freshman in high school.

Newton has already played eleven seasons in the NFL. The Carolina Panthers initially drafted him after a successful college career.
He was the first incumbent Heisman Trophy winner to be drafted first overall since Carson Palmer in 2003. In addition, he was Auburn’s fourth overall pick, joining Tucker Frederickson (1965), Bo Jackson (1986), and Aundray Bruce (1988).
He was the first player in Blinn College’s history to be taken in the first round and the fifth player overall to be drafted.
Newton signed a fully guaranteed four-year contract with the Carolina Panthers on July 29, 2011, for more than $22 million.
Newton began his second professional season with 303 throwing yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions in a 16-10 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Panthers announced on March 17, 2020, that Newton had been granted permission to seek a trade. The team did, however, officially release Newton on March 24 after failing to find a trade partner.
Newton, after waiting nearly three months in free agency, agreed to a one-year deal with the New England Patriots on July 8, 2020.
