Ghana Police Launch Probe into Fatal Stabbing in Ashaiman

The Ghana Police Service has initiated investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death of a 47-year-old man who was fatally stabbed in Ashaiman, Greater Accra Region. Contrary to earlier reports suggesting the victim was a military officer, the latest information from the police identifies the deceased as Eric Baidoo, a trader.

Allegedly attacked by an assailant on Thursday, February 15th, 2024, Eric’s lifeless body was discovered near Goodness Filling Station at the Ashaiman main trotro station around 4:30 am. Eyewitnesses, including fellow trader Yaw Kwakye, recount hearing the altercation, during which Eric reportedly resisted handing over his belongings, resulting in a fatal stab wound to the stomach.

The deceased’s body has been transferred to the Police Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy. Tema Regional Police Commander and his team have visited the victim’s family to offer condolences and assure them of a comprehensive investigation. Meanwhile, an intelligence-led operation is underway to apprehend the perpetrator(s) and bring them to justice.
